Extended Clipboard Guide

Copy and paste content into any application This is the guide to ClipMem 3:

The normal Windows clipboard usually allows you to copy exactly one entry from one application to the next. Often you overwrite this one piece of content by copying the next piece of content. This is exactly where ClipMem starts! ClipMem is an extended clipboardthat allows more than one entry on the clipboard. The entries can be retrieved at any time via the insert window and inserted into the previously active application. Buy ClipMem now and use the full range of functions.

Installation

ClipMem comes with an installer that installs all the necessary files. The installation includes the program files, optional sample content and the creation of a shortcut on the desktop. Upon uninstallation, all program files, as well as optionally all content including the clipboard content collected (in %AppData%) are deleted.

Call from the taskbar

In the taskbar you will find the icon of ClipMem. By right-clicking / "Open" the insert window for selecting the clipboard entries appears.

Call via a shortcut (default: Shift+Ctrl+M)

The insert window can also be called up via a shortcut, eliminating the need for mouse operation. The shortcut for ClipMem 3 is Shift+Ctrl+Mby default. The key combination can be changed in the configuration.

Selecting an entry

With the arrow keys (up and down) or the mouse, entries can be selected directly after calling the insert window and viewed in detail.

Insert an entry into the previous application

An entry can be inserted into the previously active application by double-clicking with the left mouse button or with the "Enter" key. In the background, the entry is additionally copied to the clipboard and then made directly available for further paste actions by CTRL+V. This function is also possible via the "Insert" button.

Insert multiple delimited entries

If you want to insert several entries into an application, e.B collected telephone numbers, you can select these entries in the insert window (with Ctrl+mouse click or Shift+mouse click or arrow keys+shift). These can then be inserted into the previously active application via "Insert with separator".

Deleting entries

To delete entries, select the entries and click Delete. The entries are then deleted. Notes on passwords:Apart from the fact that you should generally not copy passwords via the clipboard, it must be borne in mind that you should then delete these entries from ClipMem to protectthem from unauthorized readers.

Editing entries

The entries can be edited in the details area. After editing, the change must be saved with the "Save" button. When changing the entry, the changes are discarded.

Adding new entries

If you want to manually add new entries to a cabinet, you can do so via the "New entry" button. Unless it is a static cabinet (e.B "Text Modules" cabinet), entries from the Windows clipboard are automatically inserted.

Automatic limitation of entries

So that not too many entries accumulate and the extended clipboard bursts at the seams at some point, the entries are limited to 10 in the trial version. In the final version, this will be different.

Various cabinets (static/dynamic)

By default, ClipMem comes in the full version with three shelves. A distinction is made between dynamic and static cabinets. Dynamic cabinets are automatically filled with the contents of the Windows clipboard and automatically emptiedfrom time to time. Static cabinets are used to permanently collect entries. The three shelves:

  • Texts cabinet (dynamic) that contains clipboard texts.
  • Storage "Text modules" (static), which is intended for the storage of fixed text modules.
  • Images (Dynamic) cabinet that takes pictures from the clipboard.

An overview of how many dynamic entries can be present before the excess entries are automatically removed can be found here: Versions The cabinets can be changed on the left via the menu items.

Move entries to the "Text Modules" cabinet

Entries can be moved via the context menu or the button "More" and then "Move to text storage". They will therefore no longer be deleted in the purchase version of ClipMem.

Insert entries into other applications using abbreviations

If you select an entry in the "Text modules", an abbreviation can be defined for it. By tapping this abbreviation, the entry is then automatically inserted into any text fields – without ClipMem being active in the foreground.
It is recommended to start the abbreviations with a semicolonso that text modules are not accidentally inserted by the abbreviation appearing in other words.
